Special Ability

The MiG-29 Fulcrum has a special ability called Special rapid refuel crafted.png Rapid Refuel. When equipped and triggered, it decreases the time the afterburner needs to recharge its fuel. This combined with special trait of reserve fuel allows for impressive afterburner burn time.

Veteran tips

The MiG-29 Fulcrum a well balanced airframe. Both its short-range and medium-range missiles have longer lock distances and good lock time. Its internal precision cannon has longer range and medium armor piercing ammo. Armor piercing ammo can deal increased damage against opposing armored attack aircraft. Its afterburner is lower in performance, however it compensates with an impressive 18 seconds of burn time. The MiG-23 Fulcrum is equipped with an external fuel drop tank. The reserve fuel is displayed graphicly upon the Heads-Up-Display as a dual stage indicator. When the reserve fuel is depleted, the drop tank will detach from the airframe, and the fuel will only recharge to 11 seconds of afterburner use. Flying through a re-arm point will replace the drop tank and re-equip the The MiG-23 Fulcrum with another 18 seconds of fuel. It is suggested to trigger the special ability, Rapid Refuel before the drop tank is spent. Easy to fly, and over all great weapons performance, the MiG-29 Fulcrum is deadly in the hands of both an unexperienced pilot and a veteran pilot. It is a great performer in dog fights and Air Superiority where its fuel load is advantageous.

Trivia

In-game, the MiG-29 Fulcrum is depicted with its variable intake slats blended into the leading-edge root of the wings. In the event of take off from a rough airfield, the main engine intakes can be closed to avoid debris ingestion, and clean air can be taken from above the wing root. In-game, the MiG-29 Fulcrum appears to be equipped with the Russian Vympel R-27 air-to-air missile, which is an cost alternative to the more advanced Vymel NPO R-77 active radar homing beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile. In the early 1970s Soviet studies determined the need for different types of fighters. One of these programs the Perspektivnyy Lyogkiy Frontovoy Istrebitel (LPFI, or "Advanced Lightweight Tactical Fighter") program paralleled the USAF's "Lightweight Fighter" program resulting in the General Dynamics YF-16 Fighting Falcon and Northrop YF-17 Cobra. The Soviet program resulted in the MiG-29 Fulcrum design. First entering into service in 1983 the MiG-29 avionics were considered nearly obsolete by western standards. Proposed in 2007, modernization led to the MiG-35 Fulcrum-F. Presented internationally in 2017, the MiG-35 Fulcrum-F is intended to be a generation 4++ multirole fighter to compete with the Eurofighter Typhoon, Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, Dassault Rafale, Saab JAS 39 Gripen, and General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon.
